About the Role

This role focuses on producing reliable annotations across multiple data types—image, video, and audio—to help train and evaluate AI models. You will collaborate with project managers and QA teams, follow precise guidelines, and contribute to specialized tasks such as reviewing AI outputs or domain-specific labeling. Work is remote and project-based, with clear expectations and transparent rates provided upfront.

Key Responsibilities

• Annotate, label, and categorize datasets across modalities (image, video, audio) • Follow detailed project guidelines to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality • Collaborate with project managers and QA teams to meet deadlines and quality standards • Participate in specialized tasks, including evaluation of AI model outputs and domain-specific annotation • Flag ambiguities, edge cases, and guideline gaps to improve labeling clarity and consistency

Required Qualifications

• Excellent English proficiency (written and spoken) • Strong attention to detail and consistency across tasks • Ability to follow structured guidelines with precision • Comfortable using digital tools and web-based platforms for data annotation • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

• Background in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or proven annotation experience (image, video, audio) • Previous experience with data labeling for AI/ML projects • Multilingual capabilities (advantageous for certain projects)

Compensation

• Project-based compensation varies by task complexity and volume • Baseline rates: $25–$45 per hour • All rates are communicated upfront prior to project assignment • High-performing annotators are prioritized for higher-paying specialized projects

Work Arrangement

• Remote, flexible scheduling aligned to project timelines • Ability to reliably deliver on agreed volumes and deadlines • Some projects may have specific time windows or turnaround expectations

Tools & Workflow

• Web-based annotation platforms and standardized workflows • Clear, versioned guidelines with examples and edge-case handling • Quality assurance (QA) reviews, feedback loops, and calibration sessions to maintain consistency • Expectation to use a reliable computer and stable internet; certain tasks may require headphones for audio work

Quality & Compliance

• Adherence to project quality metrics (accuracy, consistency, guideline compliance) • Respect for data privacy and confidentiality; compliance with NDAs where applicable • Diligent reporting of issues, anomalies, and guideline clarifications to maintain high standards

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: What types of datasets will I work on?

Projects cover image, video, and audio modalities. Tasks may include object labeling, scene categorization, temporal events in video, audio tagging, and evaluating AI model outputs for correctness.

  • Q: Is prior annotation experience required?

Prior experience is not strictly required. Strong attention to detail, excellent English, and the ability to follow structured guidelines are essential. Experience in annotation or a STEM background is a plus.

  • Q: How are projects assigned and rates communicated?

Projects are assigned based on fit and availability. All rates and task details are shared upfront. Baseline rates are $25–$45 per hour, with higher-paying specialized projects available for high performers.

  • Q: What tools or equipment do I need?

A reliable computer, stable internet connection, and comfort with web-based annotation platforms are required. Some audio tasks may require headphones. Any tooling specifics are provided per project.

  • Q: How is quality measured?

Quality is assessed through adherence to guidelines, accuracy and consistency checks, and QA reviews. Calibration exercises and feedback help maintain high standards across the team.

  • Q: What does the schedule look like?

Work is remote with flexible hours. You are expected to meet project deadlines and volume commitments. Certain projects may specify time windows or turnaround times.

  • Q: Are multilingual skills beneficial?

Yes. Multilingual capabilities can be advantageous for language-specific tasks. Any language requirements are specified in the project brief.

  • Q: Will I evaluate AI model outputs?

For select projects, you may review and assess AI-generated outputs to validate performance and provide structured feedback.

  • Q: How is data privacy handled?

All data must be handled confidentially. You may be required to sign NDAs and follow strict data security guidelines. Sharing project data externally is not permitted.

  • Q: Is there room for growth?

Yes. Consistently high-quality contributors are prioritized for specialized, higher-paying projects and may be invited to take on advanced tasks or calibration roles.
