About the Role

You will design and improve automotive robotics systems that support manufacturing automation and intelligent mobility programs. This includes developing ROS/ROS2 nodes, integrating sensors (LiDAR, cameras, IMU), implementing perception and localization (SLAM, sensor fusion), and collaborating with controls/PLC and safety teams to deliver production-ready behavior. You will also create validation plans, analyze logs, tune performance, and document interfaces so solutions can be deployed across distributed teams and supplier ecosystems.

What You Will Do

["Develop and maintain robotics software components (ROS/ROS2) for perception, planning, and control","Implement and tune motion planning, trajectory generation, and kinematics for manipulators or AMRs","Integrate perception pipelines using computer vision and LiDAR processing; manage calibration and synchronization","Build localization and mapping workflows (SLAM) and sensor fusion for robust operation in factory environments","Create simulation-first test harnesses using Gazebo/Isaac Sim to validate behaviors and reduce integration risk","Define and execute validation plans, including scenario coverage, regression testing, and performance metrics","Collaborate with cross-functional partners (mechanical, electrical, controls/PLC, QA/safety) to ship reliable systems","Produce deployment documentation: interfaces, diagnostics, fault handling, and commissioning checklists"]

Required Qualifications

["Mid-Senior experience delivering robotics or automation systems in automotive, industrial, or adjacent domains","Strong programming skills in C++ and Python with version control and CI-friendly practices","Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2 concepts: nodes, topics, services, TF, launch, lifecycle management","Working knowledge of kinematics, dynamics basics, trajectory planning, and control loops","Experience with perception and sensor integration (cameras, LiDAR, IMU) and time synchronization","Ability to debug complex systems using logs, bag files, profilers, and hardware-in-the-loop or simulation","Comfort collaborating remotely across time zones with clear written engineering communication"]

Preferred Qualifications

["Experience with industrial robot integration, PLCs, and factory communication protocols","Familiarity with safety concepts (risk assessment, safe stop states, fault recovery) in industrial contexts","Experience deploying robotics applications on Linux and edge compute platforms","Exposure to OEM/Tier-1 development processes, requirements traceability, and validation reporting","Knowledge of CV/ML-based perception, dataset collection, and model evaluation for robotics use cases"]

Why Rex.zone

["Remote full-time opportunities aligned with automotive robotics programs and modern engineering stacks","Roles spanning OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, robotics integrators, and technology vendors","Clear job metadata, skill alignment, and application flow designed for fast matching","A navigational hub to discover related remote, contract, freelance, entry-level, and senior roles"]

How to Apply

["Apply through Rex.zone with a resume highlighting robotics projects, ROS/ROS2 contributions, and shipped automation outcomes","Include links to relevant code samples, technical write-ups, or simulation demos when available","Emphasize measurable results: cycle time reduction, uptime improvement, throughput gains, or validation coverage"]
