About the Role

You will support Mexico-aligned healthcare robotics programs as a remote engineer, contributing to end-to-end development from prototyping to production. Typical work includes requirements breakdown, architecture and interface definition, algorithm development (perception, localization, control), hardware-software integration, and verification & validation (V&V) for medical device-grade reliability. You will collaborate with QA/RA to ensure design controls, traceability, and risk management align with medical device standards, and you will help create test strategies (simulation, bench testing, HIL/SIL, and field validation) to improve system performance and safety in clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities

You will: translate clinical and product requirements into engineering specifications; design and implement robotics software modules (ROS2 nodes, perception pipelines, controls); integrate sensors and actuators (IMU, encoders, LiDAR, depth cameras, force/torque); develop calibration and diagnostics for deployed systems; build automated tests and regression suites to improve training data quality for perception models and to validate control behavior; perform root-cause analysis for failures in logs/telemetry; support V&V documentation, risk analysis, and traceability matrices; collaborate with manufacturing and ops for deployment readiness and serviceability.

Required Qualifications

Mid-senior engineering experience building robotics or medical device systems; strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python; experience with ROS/ROS2, robot kinematics, and control systems; hands-on integration with sensors and embedded/real-time constraints; familiarity with software testing, validation protocols, and change control; ability to document designs, test evidence, and engineering decisions clearly for regulated environments; effective communication in cross-functional remote teams supporting Mexico-based schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in healthcare robotics domains (surgical systems, rehabilitation robotics, hospital AMRs, telepresence); exposure to computer vision and SLAM pipelines; experience with safety engineering and medical device compliance (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601) and cybersecurity considerations; familiarity with simulation tooling (Gazebo/Ignition, Isaac Sim, or equivalent), HIL rigs, and CI/CD; experience improving model performance via data collection/curation for perception systems and field telemetry feedback loops.
