About the Role

As an Industrial Robotics Engineer focused on Chile-based robotics programs, you will deliver remote engineering support for industrial automation projects including robot programming, workcell commissioning, PLC integration, and production performance optimization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define cycle time targets, validate safety systems, and stabilize robotic cells in manufacturing environments. You will also interface with AI-enabled perception initiatives such as vision inspection, dataset creation, and evaluation workflows that improve robot perception and decision logic.

What You Will Do

You will design and support robotic workcells (material handling, palletizing, welding, packaging) with emphasis on reliability, uptime, and safe operation. You will program and troubleshoot industrial robots, integrate with PLCs and HMIs, validate I/O and fieldbus communications, and document commissioning procedures. You will contribute to continuous improvement using production KPIs (OEE, downtime, scrap) and root-cause analysis. Where applicable, you will support machine vision and AI workflows by defining labeling specifications, reviewing computer vision annotation quality, and performing QA evaluation of vision model outputs used for inspection, localization, or guidance.

AI/ML and Data Workflows You May Touch

You may support computer vision annotation for inspection datasets (defect tagging, bounding boxes, segmentation) and ensure annotation guidelines compliance. You may participate in QA evaluation of perception systems by sampling outputs, measuring false positives/false negatives, and reporting model performance improvement opportunities. You may help structure training data quality efforts by aligning production edge cases, lighting variability, and part presentation changes to dataset coverage. If the program includes LLM-enabled tooling, you may assist with prompt evaluation for troubleshooting assistants, documentation search, or SOP generation, ensuring content safety labeling and accuracy in industrial contexts.

Required Qualifications

Mid-senior experience delivering industrial robotics or automation engineering work for production systems. Hands-on robot programming and troubleshooting experience with common industrial robot platforms. Strong understanding of PLC integration, industrial networking, safety circuits, and workcell commissioning. Ability to work remotely with plant stakeholders, maintain clear documentation, and manage issues through structured debugging and change control.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with vision-guided robotics, machine vision inspection, and camera/lighting setup. Familiarity with data labeling workflows, QA evaluation methods, and training data quality concepts for computer vision models. Exposure to deployment constraints on the factory floor (latency, robustness, changeover, maintenance). Experience working with integrators, OEMs, or multi-site manufacturing operations.

Tools and Technologies

Industrial robots, end-of-arm tooling, PLCs, HMIs, fieldbus/industrial Ethernet, safety relays/controllers, and workcell simulation where applicable. Machine vision tooling and inspection pipelines when present, including dataset management concepts, annotation review, and evaluation metrics for perception quality. Standard engineering documentation practices including electrical schematics interpretation, test plans, commissioning checklists, and incident postmortems.

How Success Is Measured

Stable robotic cell performance with reduced unplanned downtime and improved cycle time consistency. Clear commissioning and troubleshooting documentation that supports maintainability and fast recovery. Successful PLC/robot/vision integration that meets safety and quality requirements. When vision or AI components are involved, measurable improvements in training data quality, evaluation accuracy, and reliability in real production conditions.
