About the Role

You will design, integrate, and support industrial robot cells for manufacturing automation programs, including robot programming, PLC and HMI coordination, end-of-arm tooling interfaces, and cycle-time optimization. The role covers commissioning support, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance strategy input, and documentation such as electrical schematics review, I/O maps, and standard work. You will also partner with quality and operations teams to improve uptime, reduce defects, and ensure safe operation aligned with industrial robotics safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Own industrial robot programming changes for production and pre-production; support PLC integration, interlocks, and I/O validation; debug automation faults using root cause analysis and structured troubleshooting; tune motion profiles for cycle-time reduction and repeatability; coordinate robot cell integration including EOAT, conveyors, sensors, and safety devices; validate safety circuits and safe operating procedures for robot cells; maintain version-controlled backups, change logs, and commissioning checklists; collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering stakeholders; create and enforce standards for robot programs, naming conventions, and documentation.

Required Qualifications

Mid-senior engineering experience in industrial robotics or automation engineering; hands-on exposure to robot programming and robot cell integration; familiarity with PLC concepts, I/O, fieldbus basics, and HMI workflows; practical troubleshooting skills across sensors, actuators, and motion systems; understanding of industrial safety systems (light curtains, interlocks, E-stops) and risk-based thinking; ability to write clear technical documentation, run test plans, and support production teams in a structured way.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with FANUC, ABB, or KUKA robot programming environments; exposure to vision systems for part location, inspection, or guidance; knowledge of tooling, grippers, and EOAT integration; experience supporting commissioning or ramp-up for automated lines; familiarity with change control, traceability, and continuous improvement methods in manufacturing environments.

What Success Looks Like

Robot cells meet safety and performance requirements with stable programs and documented standards; faster troubleshooting and fewer repeat downtime events through improved diagnostics and root cause analysis; measurable cycle-time and quality improvements from optimized motion and integration changes; clean handoffs to operations with robust training materials and maintenance-ready documentation.
