About the Role

You will design, integrate, and support industrial robotic cells for automated material handling, assembly, and inspection. The work spans robot programming, PLC and I/O integration, HMI alignment, safety validation, and cycle-time optimization. You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, and operations stakeholders to deliver robust automation that improves throughput, quality, and uptime for production environments.

Key Responsibilities

Own robot programming standards for industrial manipulators, including path planning, tool calibration, and TCP/coordinate management. Integrate robots with PLCs, sensors, servo drives, and safety systems using reliable industrial networking and I/O mapping. Develop and maintain commissioning checklists, acceptance tests, and troubleshooting playbooks for downtime reduction. Implement vision-guided robotics workflows for part location, orientation, inspection triggers, and quality gates. Support simulation and offline programming to de-risk deployments and reduce time to production. Perform root-cause analysis on faults (alarms, collisions, mis-picks, cycle variance) and drive corrective actions. Ensure compliance with machine safety requirements (risk assessments, interlocks, safety PLC, functional safety validation). Partner with operations to monitor OEE, reduce scrap, and deliver continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Mid-Senior experience delivering industrial automation projects involving robotic cells. Hands-on robot programming experience (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa) with commissioning and troubleshooting in production contexts. Strong PLC fundamentals (ladder/structured text concepts), I/O integration, and industrial protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET). Understanding of motion control, payload/tooling constraints, cycle time optimization, and repeatability considerations. Experience with machine safety, safety circuits, and risk assessment practices for industrial equipment. Ability to read electrical schematics and collaborate effectively across mechanical and electrical disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with ROS/ROS2 integration for industrial robotics applications and bridging to PLC/industrial networks. Vision systems experience (2D/3D cameras, calibration, lighting, part localization) for bin picking or inspection. Offline programming and simulation exposure (e.g., RoboDK, Process Simulate, RobotStudio). Data-driven continuous improvement using downtime analysis, alarm Pareto, and preventive maintenance planning.

Workflows and Tools You Will Use

Robot programming, teach pendant workflows, and offline programming/simulation. PLC integration, safety validation, and commissioning documentation. Vision-guided pick-and-place and inspection triggers. Change control, versioning, and structured deployment checklists for reliable releases. Production monitoring concepts including OEE, cycle-time variance, and fault trend analysis.
