Industrial Robotics Engineer (Mexico City) — Remote

Date: 25-02-2026 | Company: Rexzone | Country: US | Remote Type: Remote | Employment Type: FULL_TIME | Experience Level: Mid-Senior | Industry: Technology | Job Function: Engineering | Skills: Industrial robotics, Robot programming, PLC integration, Motion control, Safety PLC, Machine vision, End-of-arm tooling, ROS, FANUC, ABB | Salary Currency: USD | Salary Min: 63360 | Salary Max: 126720 | Pay Period: YEAR

About the Role

You will design, program, and support industrial robotic systems used in automated production cells. The work spans robot programming (teach pendant and offline programming), PLC/SCADA integration, motion profiles, safety circuits, and commissioning support through remote troubleshooting and structured documentation. You will translate production requirements into reliable automation, validate performance with acceptance criteria, and partner with manufacturing and quality teams to reduce downtime and improve OEE.

Key Responsibilities

Program and optimize industrial robots for pick-and-place, palletizing, welding, assembly, and material handling applications. Integrate robots with PLCs, HMI/SCADA, sensors, conveyors, and machine vision (camera calibration, pose estimation, inspection triggers). Develop and maintain safety architectures (risk assessment inputs, safety I/O, interlocks, safe zones, E-stops) aligned with plant standards. Support commissioning and production ramp: cycle-time tuning, repeatability verification, error-proofing, and recovery routines. Create and enforce engineering documentation: wiring diagrams, IO lists, robot backups, change logs, and standard operating procedures. Troubleshoot field issues using logs, alarms, and root-cause analysis; propose countermeasures and preventive improvements. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and quality teams on EOAT design constraints, tolerances, and poka-yoke strategies. Implement basic telemetry and diagnostics for predictive maintenance (fault trends, vibration indicators, motor load, and downtime categorization).

Required Qualifications

Mid-Senior experience delivering industrial robotics or automation projects in manufacturing environments. Hands-on robot programming experience with common platforms (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa). Strong understanding of PLC integration, industrial networking, and I/O (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, discrete I/O). Experience with industrial safety concepts and safety components (safety relays/PLCs, light curtains, door interlocks). Ability to diagnose issues across mechanical, electrical, and software boundaries using structured troubleshooting. Comfort working remotely with disciplined documentation, change control, and stakeholder communication.

Preferred Qualifications

Offline programming and simulation experience (e.g., RoboGuide, RobotStudio, Process Simulate). Machine vision integration experience for guidance and inspection (lighting, calibration, trigger design). EOAT selection/design exposure (grippers, vacuum, tool changers) and basic force/torque considerations. Familiarity with ROS/ROS2 for prototyping or advanced integrations. Experience improving OEE through bottleneck analysis, downtime Pareto, and cycle-time decomposition.

Tools and Technologies

Industrial robots: FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa (or equivalent). Controls: PLCs, HMIs, safety PLCs/relays, servo drives. Networking: EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, OPC UA (as applicable). Vision: 2D/3D cameras, calibration workflows, inspection pipelines. Engineering practices: versioned backups, change logs, FAT/SAT checklists, acceptance testing.

How Success Is Measured

Stable commissioning outcomes and on-time delivery against acceptance criteria. Reduced downtime through effective troubleshooting and preventive improvements. Improved cycle time, repeatability, and quality metrics for automated cells. Clear documentation enabling maintainability, repeatable deployments, and safe operation.
