About the Role

As a Mechatronics Engineer, you will own end-to-end development of electro-mechanical systems, from concept and requirements through prototype build, verification testing, and production readiness. You will integrate sensors and actuators, design control architectures, tune motion profiles, and ensure safety, reliability, and manufacturability. The work spans robotics and automation use cases, including closed-loop control, embedded firmware integration, and hardware-software co-design in a remote collaboration environment.

Key Responsibilities

You will design and integrate mechanical assemblies with electronics, wiring, and sensors; develop and tune control loops for motors and actuators; write or support embedded software and PLC logic for automation systems; create test plans, execute verification/validation, and analyze failure modes; build prototypes, run experiments, and iterate based on data; produce engineering documentation including requirements, schematics, CAD drawings, and BOMs; collaborate with product, manufacturing, and quality teams to drive DFM/DFT, reliability, and cost targets; troubleshoot field issues using structured root-cause methods and corrective actions.

Required Qualifications

Mid-Senior experience in mechatronics, robotics, automation, or electro-mechanical product development; strong fundamentals in control systems, motor control, sensors/actuators, and system dynamics; hands-on experience with CAD (e.g., SolidWorks) and mechanical design for manufacturability; practical knowledge of electronics integration, schematics, wiring, and signal integrity basics; experience with at least one of PLC programming, embedded C/C++, Python test tooling, or ROS-based workflows; ability to plan and execute experiments, analyze data, and document results clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with industrial automation (PLC, HMI, safety circuits), motion controllers, or servo drives; MATLAB/Simulink modeling and controller design; experience with FMEA/DFMEA, reliability engineering, HALT/HASS, and environmental testing; familiarity with test automation, hardware-in-the-loop, or manufacturing test development; exposure to robotics kinematics, calibration, perception-adjacent sensor fusion, or safety standards relevant to automated systems.

Tools and Technologies

Control and simulation: MATLAB, Simulink, PID tuning, system identification; software: Python, C/C++, ROS (as applicable), version control; design: SolidWorks or equivalent CAD, electrical schematics, BOM management; lab/test: oscilloscopes, DAQ, multimeters, motion tuning tools, test fixtures; engineering processes: requirements management, verification plans, FMEA, DFM/DFT, structured root cause analysis.

Remote Work Expectations

This role is Remote and Full-Time. You will collaborate across time zones using documented requirements, design reviews, and structured test reporting. Some projects may require coordinated access to lab equipment or on-site validation through scheduled visits, depending on program needs and hardware availability.

How to Apply

Apply through Rex.zone with a resume highlighting electro-mechanical system integration, control systems work, and shipped hardware outcomes. Include links to portfolios, technical reports, Git repositories, or design documentation that demonstrate mechatronics design rigor and testing discipline.
