Date: 25-02-2026 | Company: Rexzone | Country: US | Remote Type: Remote | Employment Type: FULL_TIME | Experience Level: Mid-Senior | Industry: Technology | Job Function: Engineering | Skills: Mining robotics, Autonomous navigation, ROS, SLAM, Sensor fusion, Computer vision, Path planning, Motion control, Industrial automation, PLC integration | Salary Currency: USD | Salary Min: 63360 | Salary Max: 126720 | Pay Period: YEAR

About the Role

In this role, you will contribute to remote full-time engineering programs focused on mining robotics: autonomous haulage support, inspection robots, teleoperation assist, and robotic drilling or material handling. You will collaborate across software, hardware, and operations to develop perception and navigation features, implement control algorithms, and harden systems for high-dust, low-visibility, vibration-heavy environments. You will use ROS-based architectures, simulation, and on-robot testing to improve localization accuracy, obstacle detection, and route execution while meeting safety constraints and uptime targets.

Key Responsibilities

You will: (1) develop autonomy features such as SLAM, localization, mapping, path planning, and obstacle avoidance, (2) build perception pipelines using camera, LiDAR, radar, and IMU with sensor fusion, (3) integrate robotics software with industrial systems including PLC, SCADA, telemetry, and fleet management, (4) design test plans for field validation, fault injection, and regression testing, (5) improve reliability through monitoring, logging, calibration workflows, and failure analysis, (6) support simulation-to-real transfer using scenario generation, digital twins, and hardware-in-the-loop testing, (7) document safety-critical behaviors and support hazard analysis with operations stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

Mid-senior experience building robotics or autonomous systems in production. Strong programming skills in Python and C++ with ROS or ROS2. Understanding of kinematics, dynamics, controls, and state estimation (EKF/UKF). Experience with SLAM, mapping, path planning, and motion control. Familiarity with perception fundamentals and sensor calibration. Ability to work remotely with disciplined communication, clear documentation, and ownership of deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in mining, heavy industry, construction, or other safety-critical domains. Familiarity with industrial automation protocols and PLC integration. Experience with simulation tooling (Gazebo, Isaac Sim, CARLA, or custom simulators), CI/CD for robotics, and on-vehicle deployment. Knowledge of functional safety concepts, safety cases, and operational risk controls. Exposure to teleoperation, remote monitoring, and edge computing constraints.

Tools and Workflows

Common stacks include ROS/ROS2, Linux, Docker, Git-based development, logging and observability, and simulation-driven testing. You may work with LiDAR and camera perception, SLAM toolkits, mapping services, and planning/control libraries. Industrial environments may require bridging robotics systems with PLC/SCADA, ruggedized compute, and strict change management. Success is measured through navigation robustness, localization accuracy, safety performance, and operational uptime.

Who Should Apply

Apply if you are an engineer who enjoys deploying autonomy in the real world, debugging on-robot issues, and iterating on perception and control with tight feedback loops. If you have built robotics features from prototype to production and can balance safety, reliability, and performance, Mining Robotics Jobs Lima on Rex.zone are a strong match.
