About the Role

You will build and support robotic and autonomy features for mining operations connected to Peru-based programs, focusing on perception, navigation, remote operations, and reliability engineering. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, integrate sensors (LiDAR, cameras, radar), validate autonomy performance, and improve system safety. The work includes dataset development for computer vision and sensor fusion, annotation guidelines compliance, QA evaluation of model outputs, and feedback loops that improve model performance improvement over time. You will partner with platform stakeholders at Rex.zone to ensure data/telemetry readiness, robust testing, and measurable operational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include: owning autonomy/robotics features from prototype to field rollout; integrating ROS2 nodes, vehicle interfaces, and perception pipelines; building evaluation harnesses for navigation, obstacle detection, and localization; defining data capture plans and telemetry KPIs; conducting root-cause analysis on field incidents and performance regressions; coordinating labeling and QA evaluation for vision datasets (bounding boxes, segmentation, lane/berm detection) and sensor fusion ground truth; enforcing annotation guidelines compliance and training data quality; contributing to safety cases, hazard analysis, and operational readiness reviews; documenting procedures for remote operations and maintenance.

Required Qualifications

Qualifications include: mid-senior experience in robotics, autonomy, or industrial automation; strong programming in Python and/or C++; experience with ROS2, SLAM/localization, perception, and sensor fusion; familiarity with LiDAR/camera calibration, time synchronization, and field data logging; understanding of safety systems engineering and reliability in harsh environments; ability to design experiments, interpret metrics, and communicate tradeoffs to stakeholders; experience collaborating with data labeling or computer vision annotation workflows for model evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred: experience with mining equipment autonomy (haul trucks, drills, loaders) or off-road robotics; knowledge of content safety labeling for operational video and privacy-safe data handling; experience with prompt evaluation and LLM tooling for triage, incident summarization, and documentation; exposure to RLHF-style feedback processes for human-in-the-loop evaluation; experience building dashboards for telemetry monitoring, model drift detection, and continuous validation; familiarity with geospatial systems and GNSS/INS integration.

What You Will Work With

Typical stack includes: ROS2, Python/C++, perception models for computer vision, SLAM/localization toolchains, LiDAR and camera pipelines, telemetry monitoring and logging, simulation and test harnesses, QA evaluation workflows, annotation tools for training data quality, and safety review processes. You will interface with AI/ML training pipelines where labeled data, model evaluation, and continuous improvement are core operational practices.
