Date: 25-02-2026 | Company: Rexzone | Country: US | Remote Type: Remote | Employment Type: FULL_TIME | Experience Level: Mid-Senior | Industry: Technology | Job Function: Engineering | Skills: Robotics software development, ROS2, C++, Python, SLAM, Motion planning, Sensor fusion, Computer vision, Control systems, Gazebo simulation, Docker, CI/CD | Salary Currency: USD | Salary Min: 63360 | Salary Max: 126720 | Pay Period: YEAR

About the Role

You will develop robotics software components that enable autonomous behavior across perception, localization, mapping, planning, and control. You will build and maintain ROS/ROS2 nodes, integrate sensor drivers (LiDAR, camera, IMU, GPS), implement state estimation and sensor fusion, and deliver robust motion planning and navigation behaviors. You will validate performance in simulation (e.g., Gazebo) and on hardware, define acceptance tests, and contribute to reliable release pipelines for distributed robotics systems.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement robotics software modules for autonomy and robot motion; Build ROS2 packages, message interfaces, launch configurations, and parameterization for multi-robot deployments; Develop perception pipelines that support obstacle detection, tracking, and scene understanding using computer vision and point cloud processing; Implement localization, SLAM, and sensor fusion workflows to improve pose accuracy and mapping reliability; Develop motion planning and control loops, including trajectory generation, controllers, and safety constraints; Integrate with embedded systems and hardware interfaces, including CAN, serial, and UDP/TCP protocols where applicable; Create simulation scenarios and regression tests to verify robot behavior, edge cases, and failure recovery; Optimize runtime performance, determinism, and reliability for real-time or near-real-time constraints; Participate in code reviews, documentation, incident analysis, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.

Required Qualifications

Mid-Senior experience building production software in robotics or autonomous systems; Strong C++ and Python skills with modern software engineering practices; Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2 concepts including nodes, topics, services, actions, TF, and lifecycle management; Practical knowledge of SLAM, localization, sensor fusion, and motion planning fundamentals; Experience working with robot sensors (camera, LiDAR, IMU) and debugging data pipelines; Familiarity with simulation tooling (e.g., Gazebo) and automated testing approaches; Ability to work remotely with strong communication, documentation, and cross-team collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Nav2, MoveIt, behavior trees, or autonomy stacks used in production robotics; Experience with point cloud processing (PCL) and perception frameworks; Experience deploying robotics software with Docker and CI/CD, including reproducible builds and artifact versioning; Familiarity with embedded Linux, real-time constraints, and hardware bring-up; Experience with fleet management, telemetry, and monitoring for robots in the field.

Work Environment and Tools

Remote-first collaboration with asynchronous documentation, task tracking, and code review workflows; Typical tools include ROS2, C++/Python toolchains, Git, Docker, CI/CD, simulation environments, and structured test automation; You will partner with engineers across perception, platform, and infrastructure to ship reliable robotics capabilities.

How to Apply

Apply through Rex.zone with a resume highlighting robotics projects, ROS/ROS2 experience, and examples of deployed autonomy features. Include links to portfolios, GitHub, publications, or demos that show production impact, simulation validation, and hardware integration.
