You will work with cross-functional teams to define interfaces, integrate hardware and software, and maintain robust test coverage across simulation and real deployments. Core responsibilities include developing ROS/ROS2 nodes, implementing sensor fusion and state estimation, improving navigation and motion planning, and tuning controllers for stable behavior under real-world uncertainty. You will also support evaluation workflows such as scenario-based testing, regression benchmarking, and telemetry-driven debugging to improve reliability, safety, and system performance. Key Responsibilities: - Build and maintain robotics software modules for perception, localization, planning, and control using ROS/ROS2. - Implement sensor fusion pipelines (camera, LiDAR, IMU, GPS) for robust state estimation and mapping (SLAM). - Develop motion planning and trajectory optimization methods for safe navigation in dynamic environments. - Create simulation-first development workflows using Gazebo/Isaac and scenario replay for regression testing. - Establish metrics and evaluation protocols (latency, stability, collision rate, tracking error) to improve system performance. - Integrate robotics stacks with CI/CD, logging, and on-robot diagnostics; investigate failures and deliver fixes. - Collaborate with product, QA, and safety stakeholders to align requirements, acceptance tests, and deployment criteria. Qualifications: - Mid-Senior experience in robotics engineering, autonomy, or embedded software engineering. - Strong programming skills in C++ and Python; experience with ROS/ROS2 architecture and tooling. - Working knowledge of kinematics/dynamics, control systems (PID, MPC), and motion planning. - Experience with SLAM/localization, sensor calibration, and sensor fusion methods (EKF/UKF). - Familiarity with computer vision and perception concepts for robotics (tracking, depth, detection). - Ability to debug distributed robotic systems using logs, bag files, telemetry, and profiling tools. Nice to Have: - Experience with real-time constraints, embedded Linux, and hardware interfaces. - Familiarity with safety validation, fault tolerance, and field testing processes. - Background in autonomy evaluation, synthetic data generation, or simulation environment authoring. Why Rex.zone: - Remote-first robotics engineering opportunities with structured evaluation, clear goals, and measurable outcomes. - Exposure to modern autonomy stacks, simulation-based testing, and production-grade robotics workflows. How to Apply: - Apply through Rex.zone and include a resume highlighting ROS/ROS2 projects, autonomy modules shipped, and measurable results (latency reductions, stability improvements, benchmark gains).
