About the Role

You will own end-to-end development of robotics capabilities, from requirements and architecture to implementation, simulation, and field validation. The work includes building ROS2 nodes, integrating sensors (LiDAR, cameras, IMU), implementing SLAM and sensor fusion pipelines, and improving autonomy behaviors via motion planning and control. You will define test plans, analyze logs/telemetry, and iterate quickly using simulation (Gazebo/Isaac Sim) to reduce risk before deployment. This role is remote and full-time, aligned with robotics engineering hiring demand for scalable automation programs.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver production robotics software components for perception, localization, planning, and control. Integrate robot hardware interfaces, drivers, and middleware using ROS/ROS2. Develop and tune motion planning and control loops for stability, safety, and performance. Implement SLAM and sensor fusion, validate accuracy, and reduce drift in real environments. Build simulation scenarios and regression tests to measure autonomy performance over time. Create annotation and QA evaluation workflows for robotics perception datasets when needed (e.g., bounding boxes, segmentation, keypoints) to improve model performance. Debug failures using logs, rosbag data, and profiling; drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions. Collaborate with mechanical/electrical teams on bring-up, calibration, timing, and compute constraints. Document system design, interfaces, operating procedures, and deployment runbooks.

Required Qualifications

Mid-Senior experience building robotics systems in production or advanced R&D. Strong C++ and Python skills for real-time or near-real-time robotics applications. Hands-on ROS2/ROS experience (nodes, topics, services, actions, TF, launch). Experience with SLAM, localization, sensor fusion, and coordinate frames. Motion planning and robot control fundamentals (PID, MPC, trajectory generation). Computer vision and robotics perception basics (camera models, calibration, tracking). Comfort with Linux tooling, Git workflows, and containerization (Docker). Ability to design tests and metrics for autonomy reliability, safety, and robustness.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Webots, or similar robotics simulation platforms. Familiarity with embedded or edge compute constraints (Jetson, x86, RT kernels). Experience with LiDAR/camera perception pipelines and calibration procedures. Knowledge of safety practices for robotics deployments and operational readiness. Exposure to ML-enabled perception evaluation, dataset QA, and training data quality. Experience with CI/CD for robotics and automated regression testing.

What Success Looks Like

Robust autonomy behaviors that meet defined safety and performance metrics. Improved localization accuracy and reduced drift through SLAM and sensor fusion tuning. Faster iteration cycles via simulation-first development and reproducible experiments. Clear system documentation, stable interfaces, and dependable deployment procedures. Measurable model performance improvement when perception data labeling and QA evaluation are required. Reliable cross-team execution with strong engineering ownership and communication.
