About the Role

You will design, implement, and validate robotics software and autonomy components for real-world deployment. Typical workflows include ROS/ROS2 node development, perception pipelines, SLAM and localization tuning, motion planning integration, controller design, simulation-based regression testing, and on-robot performance profiling. You will partner with hardware, embedded, QA, and product stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable robot behaviors under real-world constraints.

What You Will Do

Build and maintain robot autonomy modules including perception, localization, mapping, planning, and controls; integrate sensors such as cameras, LiDAR, IMU, wheel odometry, and GNSS using robust sensor fusion; develop and tune SLAM/localization for changing environments; implement motion planning strategies with safety constraints, obstacle avoidance, and recovery behaviors; create simulation scenarios and automated tests to validate edge cases and improve deployment readiness; instrument runtime telemetry, logs, and metrics for debugging field issues and improving reliability; collaborate on system architecture, interfaces, and performance budgets across compute, latency, and power constraints.

Required Qualifications

Mid-Senior experience shipping robotics or autonomy software; strong C++ and Python skills with production-grade engineering practices; experience with ROS/ROS2, robot middleware, and message-passing architectures; solid understanding of kinematics, dynamics, control theory, and state estimation; hands-on experience with SLAM, localization, or sensor fusion (e.g., EKF/UKF, factor graphs); familiarity with motion planning concepts (trajectory optimization, sampling-based planners) and safety constraints; ability to debug complex system interactions using logs, telemetry, and profiling tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience deploying to physical robot platforms and operating in field conditions; familiarity with computer vision for robotics (feature tracking, depth estimation, object detection) and calibration workflows; experience with simulation stacks (Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Webots) and scenario generation; CI/CD for robotics including containerization (Docker) and reproducible builds; familiarity with real-time systems, embedded interfaces, and hardware bring-up; knowledge of safety processes, validation plans, and test coverage for autonomy features.

Tools and Workflows

ROS/ROS2, C++/Python, Linux, Git, Docker, simulation environments, sensor drivers, calibration pipelines, mapping/localization toolchains, planning frameworks, telemetry dashboards, automated testing, and code review. You will work asynchronously with clear engineering documentation, issue tracking, and measurable acceptance criteria for features and bug fixes.
