Robotics Jobs in Heredia — Robotics Software Engineer

Date: 25-02-2026 | Company: Rexzone | Country: US | Remote Type: Remote | Employment Type: FULL_TIME | Experience Level: Mid-Senior | Industry: Technology | Job Function: Engineering | Skills: ROS2, C++, Python, SLAM, Motion Planning, Control Systems, Sensor Fusion, Gazebo, Docker, Linux | Salary Currency: USD | Salary Min: 63360 | Salary Max: 126720 | Pay Period: YEAR

About the Role

You will design, implement, and maintain robotics software for autonomous and semi-autonomous systems, with an emphasis on robust perception-to-action pipelines. The work includes integrating sensors (LiDAR, cameras, IMU), building localization and mapping components, implementing motion planning and control loops, and validating behavior in simulation and real-world test runs. You will collaborate with hardware, QA, and product stakeholders to deliver safe, reliable robotics functionality for production deployments while maintaining clear interfaces, strong observability, and repeatable release processes.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain ROS2 nodes, services, actions, and message interfaces for robotics applications. Implement and tune localization, SLAM, and sensor fusion modules for stable operation in diverse environments. Build motion planning and trajectory generation components with collision checking and constraint handling. Design feedback control strategies (PID, MPC or similar) and integrate them with real-time execution. Create simulation scenarios and regression tests in Gazebo (or similar) to validate behaviors before field trials. Instrument systems with logs, metrics, and telemetry to diagnose performance regressions and reliability issues. Collaborate with hardware teams to validate sensor calibration, timing, and compute constraints on embedded platforms. Participate in code reviews, incident postmortems, and continuous improvement of engineering standards.

Required Qualifications

3+ years of robotics or autonomy software engineering experience in production or research-to-production environments. Strong proficiency in C++ and Python for robotics systems development. Hands-on experience with ROS2, Linux, and modern build/dependency tooling. Understanding of kinematics, coordinate transforms, state estimation, and control concepts. Experience integrating sensors (LiDAR/camera/IMU) and working with synchronization and timestamping issues. Ability to design testable modules and write automated tests for robotics pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with SLAM frameworks, navigation stacks, and behavior planning architectures. Familiarity with Docker-based development environments and CI/CD for robotics software. Experience with computer vision pipelines (calibration, detection, tracking) for robotics perception. Knowledge of safety practices for robotics systems, including fail-safes, E-stops, and operational constraints. Exposure to embedded or edge compute platforms (NVIDIA Jetson or similar).

What Success Looks Like

Robotics features ship on time with measurable improvements in reliability, latency, and trajectory quality. Simulation and field testing coverage increases, reducing regressions between releases. Telemetry and debugging workflows enable fast root-cause analysis of autonomy failures. Interfaces between perception, planning, and control are stable, well-documented, and easy to extend.
