About the Role

As a Robotics Engineer, you will design, implement, and validate robot capabilities for autonomous systems in a remote, full-time setting. Your work will include perception and localization (e.g., SLAM, sensor fusion), planning and control (trajectory generation, PID/MPC concepts), and reliable integration with ROS2. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve navigation and manipulation performance through simulation, on-robot testing, and data-driven iteration. Where applicable, you will contribute to AI/ML training pipelines by curating sensor datasets, reviewing model outputs, and defining evaluation criteria that improve model performance and system safety.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain ROS2 nodes, services, and message pipelines for robotic behaviors; implement localization and mapping workflows using SLAM and sensor fusion; develop motion planning and control modules and tune controllers for stability and responsiveness; integrate cameras, LiDAR, IMU, and wheel odometry with robust timestamping and calibration; create simulation-based test plans in Gazebo (or similar) and automate regression testing; define QA evaluation metrics for autonomy (success rate, collision rate, drift, latency) and drive model performance improvement; collaborate on dataset curation for perception and autonomy, including labeling policies and annotation guidelines compliance when needed; diagnose field issues using logs/telemetry, reproduce failures, and ship fixes with clear documentation; support safety validation, edge-case testing, and reliability engineering for production robotics.

Required Qualifications

Mid-Senior experience shipping robotics software or autonomy features; strong Python and C++ skills for real-time and systems programming; hands-on ROS/ROS2 experience (launch, TF, nav stacks, bagging, diagnostics); solid understanding of kinematics, control basics, and motion planning concepts; practical experience with computer vision or perception pipelines and sensor fusion; proven testing discipline including simulation, unit/integration tests, and QA evaluation; ability to write clear engineering docs and communicate across engineering, product, and operations.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with SLAM backends, loop closure, and map management; familiarity with navigation stacks, costmaps, and obstacle avoidance; experience with fleet management, multi-robot coordination, or autonomy monitoring; exposure to AI/ML workflows such as prompt evaluation, model evaluation, and training data quality processes; knowledge of safety practices (hazard analysis, safety cases) and validation strategies; experience working with robotics vendors, annotation vendors, or BPO-style operations supporting data labeling and QA evaluation.

Tools and Workflows

ROS2, Python, C++, Linux, Git-based CI/CD, Gazebo simulation, logging/telemetry, reproducible experiments, test automation, and structured QA evaluation. Depending on the team, you may also interact with computer vision annotation tools, content safety labeling policies for robotics vision streams, and structured evaluation protocols that mirror large language model evaluation rigor for autonomy decision-making.

How to Apply

Apply via Rex.zone and include a resume highlighting robotics systems you shipped, ROS2 modules you owned, and measurable outcomes (navigation reliability, latency reduction, collision reduction, or test coverage gains). If you have repos, demos, or papers, add links.
