Robotics Engineer (Uruguay, Remote)

Date: 25-02-2026 | Company: Rexzone | Country: US | Remote Type: Remote | Employment Type: FULL_TIME | Experience Level: Mid-Senior | Industry: Technology | Job Function: Engineering | Skills: Robotics, ROS2, C++, Python, Motion Planning, SLAM, Sensor Fusion, Computer Vision, Control Systems, Embedded Linux, Gazebo, Docker | Salary Currency: USD | Salary Min: 63360 | Salary Max: 126720 | Pay Period: YEAR

About the Role

You will design, build, and validate robotics capabilities for real-world deployments while working fully remote. The role spans autonomy engineering (perception, localization, mapping, planning, control), simulation and test automation, and production-quality software development. You will collaborate with product and operations partners to define measurable requirements (safety, latency, accuracy, uptime), translate them into system designs, and deliver improvements through iterative experiments. You will also help create data-driven feedback loops that improve model performance, including dataset curation, labeling guidelines, QA evaluation, prompt evaluation for LLM-assisted tooling, and continuous verification of training data quality in robotics pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain robotics software components using ROS2, C++, and Python; Implement perception pipelines using computer vision, sensor fusion, and state estimation; Develop SLAM and localization modules with robust failure handling and recovery behaviors; Implement motion planning and control loops with constraints, obstacle avoidance, and trajectory tracking; Create simulation scenarios and simulation-to-real validation strategies to reduce on-robot risk; Design telemetry, logging, and debugging workflows for field incidents and performance regressions; Establish test coverage with unit, integration, and hardware-in-the-loop testing; Partner with data operations to improve training data quality, annotation guidelines compliance, and QA evaluation for perception datasets; Support content safety labeling and policy-aligned behaviors when robots interact with people or public environments; Document designs, runbooks, and incident postmortems to improve reliability and model performance improvement over time.

Required Qualifications

Mid-Senior experience shipping robotics or autonomous systems in production; Strong C++ and Python engineering skills with code review and CI/CD habits; Hands-on experience with ROS2, message design, and real-time constraints; Practical knowledge of motion planning, control theory, and robot kinematics/dynamics; Experience with SLAM, sensor fusion, or state estimation (e.g., EKF/UKF) in real deployments; Familiarity with computer vision annotation workflows and how labeled data impacts perception models; Ability to design experiments, define metrics, and drive model performance improvement through iterative releases; Clear communication and cross-functional collaboration in remote teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience deploying robots in logistics, manufacturing, service robotics, or mobile autonomy; Familiarity with embedded Linux, hardware interfaces, and timing-sensitive systems; Experience with Gazebo or other simulators and domain randomization; Exposure to LLM-assisted robotics tooling, prompt evaluation, and QA evaluation of model outputs; Experience with content safety labeling and risk mitigation for human-robot interaction; Experience with cloud robotics infrastructure, Docker, and observability tooling.

Tools and Workflows

ROS2, C++, Python, Git, CI/CD, Docker, Gazebo, simulation-to-real testing, telemetry and logging, training data quality checks, annotation guidelines compliance, QA evaluation, dataset versioning, model regression testing, and production monitoring.
