About the Role

You will design, implement, and maintain robotics software components that run reliably in simulation and on hardware. The work spans core autonomy workflows (perception, state estimation, SLAM, planning, and controls), performance profiling, and robust integration of sensors and compute. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to define requirements, validate behavior with repeatable tests, and improve system safety and uptime.

What You Will Do

Build and maintain ROS/ROS2 nodes for perception, localization, mapping, planning, and control. Implement sensor drivers and time-synchronization pipelines for camera, LiDAR, radar, and IMU inputs. Develop and tune SLAM and state estimation (EKF/UKF) with sensor fusion and covariance handling. Improve motion planning (sampling-based and optimization-based) and trajectory tracking for dynamic environments. Create reproducible simulation scenarios in Gazebo/Ignition or similar tools and close the sim-to-real gap. Instrument, profile, and optimize latency, memory, and throughput for real-time constraints. Ship maintainable code with unit, integration, and hardware-in-the-loop testing and CI/CD pipelines. Document interfaces, calibration assumptions, and operational runbooks for deployment and QA.

Required Qualifications

Mid-Senior experience building production robotics software in C++ and/or Python. Strong ROS/ROS2 development skills (messages, tf2, lifecycle nodes, launch, bagging). Hands-on understanding of kinematics, coordinate frames, transforms, and calibration workflows. Experience with at least one autonomy area: perception, SLAM, motion planning, or controls. Comfort working with Linux, Git, Docker, and automated testing practices. Ability to debug distributed systems using logs, traces, and on-robot experiments.

Preferred Qualifications

Computer vision or 3D perception experience (OpenCV, PCL, point cloud processing). Optimization and estimation background (Ceres, g2o, factor graphs). Experience deploying robotics software to edge devices (NVIDIA Jetson, GPU acceleration). Knowledge of safety and reliability practices for autonomous systems (watchdogs, fallback modes). Experience with cloud telemetry, fleet monitoring, and over-the-air update workflows.

Tools and Technologies

ROS/ROS2, DDS middleware concepts, tf2, rosbag/rosbag2 C++, Python, CMake, colcon SLAM and sensor fusion, EKF/UKF, calibration Computer vision and perception: OpenCV, PCL, LiDAR/camera pipelines Simulation: Gazebo/Ignition, Isaac Sim or equivalents DevOps: Docker, CI/CD, Linux performance tooling
