About the Role

You will support robotics deployments and ongoing operations by diagnosing faults, restoring production uptime, and standardizing maintenance procedures. Work includes interpreting electrical schematics, validating robot and PLC I/O, testing interlocks and safety devices, calibrating sensors, and documenting fixes in a ticketing system. You will collaborate with controls engineers to validate program changes, confirm cycle-time impacts, and reduce repeat failures through corrective actions and preventive maintenance plans.

Key Responsibilities

Own troubleshooting for industrial robot cells (alarms, motion faults, communication faults, I/O issues). Execute preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication schedules, and component replacement. Commission and validate new or modified automation equipment, including EOAT and fixtures. Support PLC-controlled systems: verify I/O mapping, network connectivity, and interlocks. Maintain safety compliance: E-stops, light curtains, safety relays, lockout/tagout procedures. Calibrate sensors and vision components; validate part detection and alignment. Create clear service documentation: root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and maintenance checklists. Coordinate with engineering and vendors on escalations, parts, and corrective engineering changes. Track downtime metrics and propose reliability improvements to reduce recurring failures.

Required Qualifications

Experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial robotics or automated production systems. Hands-on electrical/mechanical troubleshooting (motors, drives, sensors, pneumatics). Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Practical knowledge of PLC-controlled systems and industrial networking concepts. Comfort using structured workflows: tickets, SOPs, change logs, and maintenance records. Strong root-cause analysis skills and ability to communicate findings clearly. Ability to work in a remote-first environment with asynchronous coordination.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with robot commissioning, cell bring-up, and validation testing. Familiarity with vision systems, calibration, and basic troubleshooting. Experience with safety standards and safe commissioning practices. Exposure to reliability practices: MTBF/MTTR tracking, failure mode analysis, spare parts strategy. Prior work across multi-site operations or globally distributed engineering teams.

Tools and Workflows

Robot cell troubleshooting workflows, alarm logs, and diagnostic traces. PLC/controls validation, I/O checkout, and network verification. Preventive maintenance scheduling, inspection records, and spare parts tracking. Ticketing systems, runbooks, SOPs, and structured incident reports. Remote collaboration tools for handoffs, escalation notes, and change approvals.

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)

Week 1–2: Learn site standards, safety procedures, documentation format, and escalation paths. Week 3–6: Independently resolve common downtime issues; document repeatable fixes and PM updates. Week 7–12: Lead root-cause investigations for recurring faults; propose reliability improvements and validate outcomes with engineering.

How to Apply

Apply through Rex.zone with a resume highlighting robotics maintenance, commissioning, PLC troubleshooting, and safety experience. Include examples of downtime reduction, preventive maintenance ownership, or root-cause investigations you led.
