About the Role

You will engineer warehouse robotics systems that operate in high-volume logistics environments, combining robotics software development with systems integration and operational excellence. Your work includes integrating mobile robots and manipulators with WMS/WES and industrial controls, validating behaviors in staging and production, creating monitoring and alerting for fleet health, and building QA test plans that reduce incidents. You will partner with product, operations, and field teams to translate warehouse workflows (picking, putaway, sortation, palletization) into reliable robot behaviors and measurable performance improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Own robotics integration from lab to warehouse: commissioning, configuration, and rollout planning; Develop and maintain robotics software components (ROS2 nodes, drivers, state machines, tools); Implement interfaces to PLCs, scanners, conveyor controls, safety controllers, and industrial networks; Improve navigation, task allocation, and motion performance using telemetry, logs, and replay; Build test harnesses, simulation checks, and regression suites for robot behaviors and edge cases; Define and enforce QA protocols for deployments, updates, and incident response; Create dashboards for fleet monitoring: uptime, cycle time, error rates, battery health, and safety events; Diagnose production incidents using logs, traces, and structured root-cause analysis; Collaborate on safety and compliance practices (E-stops, LOTO, risk assessments, functional safety where applicable); Document runbooks and provide engineering support during critical launches and peak seasons.

Required Qualifications

5+ years in robotics, automation, or industrial software engineering (or equivalent experience); Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++; Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2, robotics middleware, or real-time robot control systems; Experience integrating robotics with warehouse systems (WMS/WES/WCS) and industrial controls (PLC, OPC UA, Modbus, Ethernet/IP); Familiarity with robotics debugging practices: bag/log analysis, profiling, replay testing, and telemetry; Understanding of navigation concepts such as SLAM, localization, mapping, and path planning; Ability to design robust interfaces and fault-tolerant behaviors for production environments; Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with operations, field technicians, and software teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with computer vision for warehouse perception (barcodes, depth sensing, object detection, pose estimation); Knowledge of motion planning and manipulation (MoveIt, trajectory generation, grasping); Experience with simulation and testing (Gazebo/Ignition, Isaac, unit/integration testing for robotics); Familiarity with cloud-based monitoring/observability stacks and data pipelines; Exposure to safety standards and risk assessment methods used in industrial automation; Experience with fleet management, task allocation, and multi-robot coordination; Background supporting 24/7 operations and on-call rotations for production robotics.
